Samsung’s new flagship Galaxy S24 series will follow the current Galaxy S23 series and arrive in a traditional grouping. The base version of the S24 will be complemented by the larger S24+ variant, and at the top, as every year, will be the Ultra specification. Let’s break down this anticipated series and take a look at what’s expected of it and what it’s most likely to come up with.
What will be the design of the Samsung Galaxy S24?
No major changes are expected in terms of appearance, and the Galaxy S24 series will be built around the design language that started with the current Galaxy S23 series. This means that there will be no traditional photo module on the back, but the individual lenses will be inserted into the chassis separately, which looks good and underlines the minimalist concept of the phones.
However, there will be a few changes. The bezel on the Galaxy S24 and S24+ will be completely flat and will lose the slight roundness it had on current versions. Thinner inner bezels around the display are also expected (for all three specs), and it looks like Samsung will implement an Ultra-Wideband (UWB) antenna in the side bezel.

In connection with the top-of-the-line Galaxy S24 Ultra model, there is talk that it will arrive, following the example of Apple and its iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, with a titanium construction. This would mainly mean a significant reduction in weight with an even stronger construction, and it can be expected that we will indeed see this material. The entry-level versions of the S24 / S24+ are likely to get a classic aluminum frame.
All three models will be covered with durable Gorilla Glass on the back and front, probably the last generation of Victus 2 (there is no newer one yet) and it is more or less a certainty that we will see increased durability again. The current models boast IP68 protection (the highest dust resistance and the second highest water resistance) and this will continue to be the case with the new generation.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 display will undergo big changes
In the field of displays, there is mainly talk about the top-of-the-line Ultra model, which, for the first time ever, should arrive with a flat panel. We’ve already gotten used to a side-rounded display for this spec, and it will be interesting to see how fans of the brand react to this potential change. Its diagonal will be 6.8 inches, it will offer WQHD+ resolution and, of course, we will see an AMOLED panel.
There will be no lack of LTPO technology, i.e. adapting the refresh rate to the currently displayed content (1 – 120 Hz) and the brightness should be able to reach up to 2,200 nits. The base Galaxy S24 will arrive with a 6.1-inch AMOLED display, the larger S24+ variant will offer a 6.6-inch panel, in both cases we will see FullHD+ resolution, and there is talk of deploying LTPO technology.

The return of the Exynos factory processor
Other big news is expected for processors. While last year all models within the Galaxy S23 series received flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chips, this year Samsung should return to the original order. This means that in Europe, these new flags will be equipped with the factory Exynos 2400 processor, and in the US or home country of South Korea, they will get the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Samsung Galaxy S24 camera
In terms of camera, the S24 and S24+ should offer a very similar lineup to their predecessors. This means a triple camera with a resolution of 50 + 12 + 10 Mpx, optical image stabilization or 3× optical zoom. However, we can expect intergenerational improvements in the quality of images and videos and some new capabilities.
The top-of-the-line Ultra version should then get a redesigned setup with a resolution of 200 + 12 + 50 + 10 Mpx in this layout – main, ultra-wide-angle, periscope telephoto and telephoto lenses. This setup can handle 3× and 5× optical zoom, and it will reportedly lack the 10x optical zoom of its predecessor, but the 5x will offer significantly better image quality.

Battery & Charging
When it comes to charging, Samsung has been pulling the short end of the stick for a long time, and it looks like the Galaxy S24 series will be no different. Supposedly, there will be no changes here, and that will mean charging by25W of power on the base version and 45W charging on the S24+ and S24 Ultra versions. If this is indeed the case, charging will be, as it is every year, a disappointment.
However, there should be a few changes in battery capacity, and positive ones. Capacity should increase in the base Galaxy S24, as well as in the larger S24+ version, which should be endowed with a 5,000 mAh battery (last time 4,700 mAh). The top-of-the-line Ultra version can also look forward to the same large battery, which also hosts it in the current generation.
When is the Samsung Galaxy S24 coming out?
Unfortunately, Samsung has not yet specified when exactly it will introduce its new flagship Galaxy S24 series, but there is talk of its premiere at the beginning of next year. The current series arrived in February 2023, and there is speculation that the upcoming S24 series will arrive even earlier. So will we see it in January? It is possible, and it is likely that Samsung will reveal the official date sooner or later.
Price and availability
Nothing is known about prices yet, but Apple, Samsung’s biggest competitor, has not increased prices this year and has significantly reduced prices in some markets, such as our country. So it remains to be seen how the South Korean manufacturer will approach the issue of prices.
